Areas We Serve Throughout Worcester County, Maryland

Paul Abu-Zaid has practiced criminal defense, DUI – DWI – BUI defense, traffic law, and personal injury law throughout Worcester County, Maryland since 2004. As a former President of the Worcester County Bar Association and a longtime member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorney’s Association, Paul has spent over two decades building relationships within the local legal community – from the courthouse in Snow Hill to the police departments in Ocean City, Berlin, Pocomoke City, and beyond. That local familiarity matters: knowing how a particular courtroom runs, how local prosecutors approach a case, and how Worcester County’s roads, checkpoints, and seasonal enforcement patterns actually work can make a real difference in the outcome of a case.

Communities across Worcester County where Paul Abu-Zaid regularly represents clients facing criminal charges, DUI, DWI, and BUI charges, traffic offenses, and personal injury claims.

Ocean City, Maryland

Ocean City is the heart of Paul’s practice and home to the highest concentration of the cases he handles. Ocean City sees a corresponding spike in DWI checkpoints and traffic stops along Coastal Highway, particularly during high-traffic weekends like Springfest, Sunfest, and Bike Week. Many of Paul’s clients are out-of-town visitors arrested while on vacation who need help navigating a Maryland criminal or traffic case from out of state – including questions about fighting a ticket without returning to Maryland. Paul also regularly handles boardwalk-area assault charges, alcohol-related boating offenses on the bay, and personal injury claims arising from pedestrian and motor vehicle accidents along Coastal Highway and the Route 50 corridor into town.

West Ocean City

Just across the Route 50 drawbridge from Ocean City, West Ocean City is the gateway most visitors pass through – home to the commercial harbor, the outlet shopping centers, and the busy intersection of Route 50 and Route 611. That intersection and the surrounding commercial corridor see a steady volume of motor vehicle accidents, and Route 50 traffic enforcement in this area frequently leads to reckless driving, DUI, and license-related charges for both residents and visitors heading to or from the beach. Paul represents clients in West Ocean City on the same range of criminal, DUI, and personal injury matters he handles across the rest of the county.

Ocean Pines

A residential community along the Route 90 and Route 589 corridor, Ocean Pines is home to many of Worcester County’s year-round families. Cases originating here often involve traffic stops along Route 90 – the main route connecting Ocean Pines to Ocean City – as well as DUI arrests, domestic-related charges, and personal injury claims from accidents on Route 90 and Manklin Creek Road. Paul works with Ocean Pines residents on everything from reckless and aggressive driving charges to full criminal defense representation.

Berlin, Maryland

Recognized nationally as one of “America’s Coolest Small Towns,” Berlin sits just off Route 113 and Route 50, a few miles inland from Ocean City. Its growing downtown, arts scene, and steady tourism bring their own mix of cases – from traffic offenses on Route 113 and Route 50 to criminal charges connected to Berlin’s downtown restaurants and events. Every case originating in Berlin is ultimately heard at the Worcester County courthouse in Snow Hill, and Paul’s familiarity with that court and its procedures applies just as directly to Berlin clients as it does to those from Ocean City.

Snow Hill, Maryland

Snow Hill is the county seat of Worcester County and home to both the Circuit Court for Worcester County (One West Market Street, Snow Hill, MD 21863) and the District Court of Maryland for Worcester County (301 Commerce Street, Snow Hill, MD 21863). Criminal cases, DUI charge, traffic citation, and civil matter filed anywhere in Worcester County – whether the arrest happened in Ocean City, Berlin, Pocomoke City, or anywhere in between can ultimately be heard in one of these two courthouses. Paul Abu-Zaid has appeared before these courts regularly for over twenty years, and that day-to-day familiarity with local judges, clerks, and court procedure is part of what he brings to every case, regardless of where in the county it originated.

Bishopville, Maryland

A small, largely rural community in northern Worcester County near the Delaware line, Bishopville sits along Route 90 and Muddy Neck Road, not far from Selbyville and Fenwick Island, Delaware. Because of its location near the state border, Paul frequently assists Delaware residents and visitors who are stopped or charged on the Maryland side of the line – including DUI and traffic stops along Route 90 – as well as longtime Bishopville-area residents facing criminal or traffic charges.

Pocomoke City, Maryland

At the southern end of Worcester County along the Pocomoke River and Route 13, Pocomoke City is close to the Virginia and Somerset County lines. Paul represents clients here on the same range of matters he handles countywide – criminal defense, DUI/DWI, traffic offenses along Route 13 and Route 113, and personal injury claims – while remaining mindful of Pocomoke City’s own local police department and its relationship to the Worcester County court system in Snow Hill.

Worcester County Courts

No matter which Worcester County community a case originates in, it will typically be heard at one of the following courthouses in Snow Hill or Ocean City:

  • Circuit Court for Worcester County – One West Market Street, Snow Hill, MD 21863
  • District Court of Maryland for Worcester County – 301 Commerce Street, Snow Hill, MD 21863
  • Ocean City District Court – 6505 Coastal Hwy, Ocean City, MD 21842

Paul Abu-Zaid has practiced in front of all courts continuously since opening his practice in 2004, giving him direct, current familiarity with how cases move through the Worcester County system – from arraignment through trial.
